At this year's upcoming Baronial Banquet the off-board is $10! If you want
food, it will cost you $15 more (a total of $25). And if you want to drink
(beer, wine and cider) that's extra, we run a cash bar as that is what the
Provincal authorities perfer. (Also, we put the bar up on the stage. If
you can't do the stairs, you don't need another drink).

The problem here is not the cost of food, though that is higher than on the
other side of the border, it is the cost of the hall. To get a space big
enough with a good kitchen is costing us close to $1500.

Here is Vancouver, BC, Canada. Off-board is new to us, but there are so many
people in our area with allergies and other health related food problems, not
to mention the various versions of vegitarians, that it makes sense. In my
little sub-group of 16 that are going off-board, we have 8 people with food
allergies, 1 insulin dependent diabetic, and me (using diet to control high
blood presser and stave of T2 diabeties), for a total of 10 prolem eaters.
One lady is so bad, she is not even joining our pot luck, her diet so
restricted.

You can say that again.

ps. the feast I did the year before last, I had a budget of $2000, spent
$1600.
Last year, I was the third head cook (other two had to drop out) and my
hall
autocrat did not do a good job on ticket sales. I believe I spent a total
of $1300, and had some food left over; 4 litres of milk we didn't need
for
the rice pudding and half a box of apples (but buying the box was still a
better deal). We gifted my sister (who had 4 foster childern at the time)
with the milk and apples as a thank you. My driver was at the last minute
unable to help, and my sister drove me around to buy food, and took me to
the hall early Saturday morning, after spending Friday night helping me
cut up lamb and marinating it for the kebobs. And she is not in the SCA.
