The Silpats are made of silicone rubber compound with a sort of
stranded fiberglass aggregate/infrastructure. Gives it heat
indestructibility (nearly) and durability at the same time. The website
for both Silpat and Exopat say the product is designed to last over 2000
uses (actually 2K to 4K or so depending on care and wear).

Doing the math for 3000 uses, it comes to .67 cents per use. If you
bake or roast regularly, then this HAS to be cheaper than disposable
parchment. Granted, you have to use it 3000 times to get this dollar
cost averaging to play out. Even if used 1000 times, it would only be 2
cents per use. Cough up the $20 already :o)

pacem et bonum,
niccolo difrancesco
(done right, you might find them less than $20 apiece new . . . I
did.)
