The song is "MacArthur Park" and the version I am most familiar with is
from '78-79, but (I think) Donna Summer. Maybe Melissa Manchester, but I
think it was Donna.

*However* IIRC that was a cover, and teh original was from about ten years
before that, and d*mned if I can remember who did the original.

Ok- just did a Google- the first site says Donna Summer, and has teh lyrics:
