It's not bad food; just expensive.  ( and your money will better go to the bookshop.  It certainly won't come home with you.  The Met sometimes even has cookbooks!  And so do many other museums.)

Thanks for the heads up about the museum cafe. In other museums we have seen
posh cafes and then nice cafeterias on the basement floor. Plain but good
food.
