Well, perhaps the folks on that list might enjoy these referances in
the FOOD-MEATS section of the Florilegium:

blood-dishes-msg (20K) 10/ 1/01 Use of blood in period foods. Recipes.
eels-msg (26K) 1/ 9/01 Eel dishes. Getting and cleaning eels.
exotic-meats-msg (75K) 2/18/02 Period and SCA exotic meats. Swans, ostrich,
                                       crawfish, dormice, cat.
frogs-msg (16K) 4/29/02 Medieval and period frog recipes. Referamces

horse-recipes-msg (24K) 12/14/01 Period horse recipes. References.
organ-meats-msg (72K) 2/11/02 Period cooking of organ meats.
snails-msg (13K) 8/30/00 Eating of snails in period. Recipes.
But of coarse, as Nanna points out whether something is exotic or not
probably depends upon the individual.
I've had both rattlesnake and alligator but the alligator was fresh
or perhaps at one time frozen. Dried alligator? Now that is unusual. :-)
