Ah. Okay, this explains things. The future notice will be
something like:

"We regret to inform you that the Laureling which was to take place

tonight has been postponed. It seems that Drakey is in the hospital
recovering from the impact of many small glass shards. It seems
that for some unknown reason Drakey wrapped the top of a bottle
of mead with a tremendous amount of duct tape, that magical stuff
which holds the world together. In this case it did, but it appears
that he should have taped up the entire bottle. It appears that
the bottle disintegrated as it was sitting on the counter to be
loaded into his car for his trip to this event."
