Don't forget that a mixture of Sage and Salt is a powerful cleansing agent often used in a Blessing ritual.  Sprinkling Sage and Salt liberally across the threshold and at the four cardinal corners of the home (or, alternatively, circling the entire home widdershins, sprinkling the Sage and Salt), while calling on the Goddess to bless the home will create a wall of protection against unhealthy influences.
