The only sponge candy that I have ever heard
about or tasted was from Buffalo New York, where
I have been told it was invented.

As for deep fried Mars bars, I just read an
article about these in yesterday's Los Angeles
Times. It appears that this was recently
invented in Scotland and has spread to the US,
but using Snickers Bars instead of Mars Bars.
The description was a regular sized Snickers Bar,
which is rolled in a sweet batter, with a stick
shoved into it and deep fried. Apparently, it is
the hit of this year's LA County Faire. I think
that I will pass on trying one of these ...

Blessed are they who can laugh at themselves for they
shall never cease to be amused.
