The ones I am referring to are actually black with a little bit more give in
the soul than the gardening shoes. (IIRC, they are really stiff.) They were
actually in fashion a couple of years ago, you could find them everywhere.
The ones that I had were black leather looking ones, just like the ones that
Mario Batalli wears. (That's not why I bought them, he's just the only one
that I can think of right off hand that wears them. Plus he's the one that
pretty much made them so popular.) Goofy me, I just realized I'm on a
computer and can look them up on a search engine! (I need sleep.) And
indeed, they are called chef clogs, or chef hoof. You can probably find them
in some sort of restaurant supply house or the like. Maybe even in some
discount clothing stores, like TJ Maxx, or Ross. I highly recommend them.
I'd used everything from high heels (not real bright, but I was new) to
tennis shoes to nurse's shoes. But these were wonderful. find them where
they are all in one piece, not two pieces joined. They are wonderful and
easy to clean. I'd either dump them in the sink or hose them down, or even
stick em in the dishwasher on a couple of occasions! Buy a pair!! They are
wonderful.
