Check any basic neonatology, pediatrics or obstetrics textbook. Antibodies
are transferred from mother to baby in breast milk. This helps prevent the
baby from falling ill while its own immune system matures (unlike most other
organ systems, the immune system is not fully functional at birth, and takes
an additional 6-9 months to be fully active).
