When and for how long?

Might want to pass on the plethora of BBQ spots in NE Portland :)

I think I shall defer to Wanda, Morwyn, and 'Lainie for recommendations.
I'm currently in Portland, but just visiting. Taking in the snow, as it
were. I might suggest Fort Vancouver across the river (in Washington State)
myself, as that's my area of interest.

I think 'Lainie would highly recommend any of the McMenimin's brewpubs in
the area. They are usually in semi-renovated/recovered buildings of
a 'certain age', so the atmosphere is fun and eclectic. There's one nearby
that's in an old elementary school. The classrooms were turned into
accomadations, ala break and breakfast type, and the current bar is in the
old detention room.
