It looks like they just folded the wing round the wrong way like we do to
keep chicken wings from flopping about.  You can see they have removed the
last wing joint on the duck below it.

You think beets?  I thought parsnips.  Doesn't look like a carrot top,
that's for sure.

Hard to say.  They colouring is so faded and untrue.  They are sitting next
to the bread and some kind of, it looks like, sliced squash being used as a
serving vessel so I wonder whether they may be some sort of pastie.
