As I've mentioned previously, you seem to handle it fairly well though. Until
you mentioned it this last Pennsic, I didn't realize you had a hearing problem.

Yes, unfortunately I have the same problem. :-( Folks will yell hello from the
other side of the list field or camp, and I often can't see who it is who is
being friendly. Well sometimes, they can actually be within 20 feet and I may
not recognise them. I'm afraid it makes me come off as rather unfriendly,
which I like to think I am not. And my eyesight is a definite disability at
the Pennsic Classic Swimming Hole and such. :-( And in such situations I can't
usually substitute my sense of touch. :-)

Yes, and even if I knew ASL it might not help since I don't know if I could see the handsigns well enough to follow them.

For those who might be interested in the special signs for SCA specific terms
and how and where SCA sign interpreters are used, take a look at these
Florilegium files:

SCA-SL-art (14K) 9/ 8/94 SCA specific sign language.
sign-lang-msg (18K) 7/31/01 Sign language in the SCA and in period.
