Subject: [Aten_Cooks] Period Demo Center & Community Ovens

Greetings Unto the List

PERIOD DEMO CENTER — ESTRELLA WAR COMMUNITY OVENS

Estrella War is fast approaching. There will be a new feature at War this year - the PERIOD DEMO CENTER. It will be located adjacent to Merchant’s Row next to the Period Encampment and the A&S Area. Come on by and see what your fellow artisans are doing. We will be having metalsmiths, woodworkers, dye vats, baking ovens, and lots more. If you are an artisan who would like to demonstrate your knowledge, please contact me and we will find a place for you. A schedule of demonstrations will be posted at the front of the Period Demo Center. The Period Demo Center will be open from 8am until 5pm.

In true medieval tradition, the Period Demo Center will be hosting “Community Ovens” during War this year. There will be three beehive mud ovens available for use by the cooks at War to bake or cook everything from breads to meats. If you have ever wanted fresh bread at War, but did not have the where-with-all to bake it - here is your chance. So for you cooks out there interested in a new challenge or just want a fresh baked loaf of bread, come and try out the ovens. One oven will be available Wednesday morning and the other two ovens will be available Thursday afternoon thru Sunday evening. To schedule your use of the ovens, please either e-mail me before War or see me at the Period Demo Center. To help insure the ovens stay hot throughout War, in addition to the wood I will be bring, I am asking those using the ovens to bring an arm load of hard wood or a donation.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at War.

In Service,

Lady Ann Busshenell of Tylehurst
Period Demo Center Coordinator
