S'OK ;-) I was using it as an occasion to tease my friend Phillipa, as well
as set the record straight. As a general rule, though, any variation of
Philip is a first name if it has 1 (one) L, and a last name if it has 2
(two) Ls, although that rule has been losing its force over the last 20
years or so...

Also, it's a lot more common among the Brits than it is in the US. Suspect
that might have something to do with the Crown Prince sharing the name....

Phlip, lucky enough to have a given name acceptable through most of the
Western and ME cultures we study, from well before our usual period, to the
present....
