You are correct. It's glazed brown. The inside seems to be completely glazed, too. I'm planning on vinegar or oil for it.

As I have a 2-year-old, I do still have baby bottle brushes. I didn't think they'd be tough enough, and I really want to do a thourough cleaning as I have no idea what this jug has contained in it's previous lives.
