According to a couple of web sites, white ginger is Hedychium
coronarium, as opposed to common ginger which is Zingiber officinale.
Both are in the family Zingiberaceae.

The Nature Conservancy lists it as an invasive and disruptive species.
It is probably native to the Himalayas and southeastern China, but it's
now causing no end of trouble in Hawaii.

I haven't found any suppliers for this yet, but I'm looking.
