   You can occasionally find a good book out there. But mostly it's a
disappointment. One of my favorite series started out wonderfully, it's
about a vampire hunter/animator. But as someone wrote in a revue of the
latest book, if you can get past all the sex, you might be able to find the
threads of a story.
   For a good read, excellent really, I suggest John Bellairs' books.
Especially The House With A Clock In It's Walls and the others in it's
series. It's along the lines of Harry Potter. I first read it when I was in
fourth grade, and it still remains my all time favorite. He's another one of
the won't talk dumb to the kids authors. Here's the website.

are a couple of authors that have continued his work, successfully IMO. His
books were largely illustrated by Edward Gorey, a double threat for me
