Yes, I am leaving Atenveldt for the East because of Daddy's ill health. He has been diagnosed with terminal, untreatable lung cancer, But is still in relatively good health. We are traveling back to his hometown, Columbus, Ga, on a long, slow trip, while he is still able to travel.
I do plan to hook back up with the SCA when I get back to Rivermarche. I probably won't be as active there for a while as I am here. I do plan, tentavely, to attend Estrella next year, and Pennsic next year, as well.
I am quite aware that I will need to take care of myself so I can take care of Daddy, and Mama. Taking care of me means having a social outlet occasionally.
We will be living with a couple of my cousins, who are more like sisters, so I won't be carrying the burden all alone, and will have "babysitters" for the occasional night out.

I understand how she is feeling. My mother
suffered a stroke three weeks ago and still is in
the hospital as I am writing this. I know that
my participation in the SCA in the future will be
limited, but I am not giving it up entirely.
After having watched a good friend care for two
invalid parents, I know that one needs to have a
day away from one's patients occasionally in
order to keep up one's vitality and joie de
vivre. Just going to the occasional SCA event
can do this.
Also, if you and Atenveldt really care for
Mordonna, you [in the collective sense] should
all volunteer to parent sit for her for an hour
or two so she can spend time away from her
patient and be able to do even little things for
herself.
