A very interesting topic, poultry in bondage. In fact
as a poultrier of some experience I can say most
poultry seem to positively revel in bondage of one
sort or another, especially if in doing so they can
make a complete puzzlement for their owners! 
Item: A large (nearly 8lbs) Buff Brahma hen, think
fluffy caramel coloured ROUND body with feathers feet,
STUCK!! sitting in a  5gl. round galvanized steel
feeder, suspended from a chain approx. 8 inches off
the ground!! She was sitting in there nice as you
please, not perturbed at all really, just sort of
puzzled about how she got there and why she can't
move!! Her feet are sticking out through the drop gate
at the bottom of the hopper and the other birds are
pecking at her toes along with the feed coming out the
bottom!!
I laughed so hard I sat down on an unstable bucket and
fell over on the floor laughing!!
getting Taffy out of there was a little trial of
lowering the feeder chain to the floor, then, into an
empty grain bin dumping the hopper, hen,grain and all
into it, rescuing said hen and checking the feed to
check of dung contamination before returning it to the
hopper and raising it back into place, while keeping
the rest of the 24 hens from getting under foot!!

I could go on and on about other incidents concerning
poultry, chickens, ducks, geese, peafowl and pigeons
and their various exploits involving various sorts of
bondage and confinment!! Cocks hung upside down by
their talons, or their jessys, ganders wrappped up in
grapevines, a cock with his head stuck in an exhaust
pipe!(to this day I don't know HOW THAT happened!!
There he is, I drove up the driveway to find a prize
winning Lakenvelder(16th cen. Dutch breed, White with
Black head and tail) standing behind my apprentices
car with his head stuck in the tailpipe!! His head is
in the dark, so he doesn't move a whole lot, save that
when he can hear me walking up the drive he fusses and
growls to himself!! I walk up to him and find that his
head is really wedged in there!! So I take some
Vaseline and try to lube up his head and comb, and
finally get him free!! He is covered in gel and I wipe
that up and he is so disheartened he hangs his head so
I cuddle him a bit and feed him bacon fat until he is
feeling spunkier and off he goes, good as knew!! Ready
to cause more trouble.....!!!!

The stories never end and all of them are true!!
