So, what does your friend do with all these walnut shells? If he is
just throwing them away or burning them, perhaps there is a small
market in them by selling them to SCA folks wanting them to do natural
dyeing. Or if doesn't want to bother with this, perhaps you could get
them from him cheap and resell them.
