I worked in a restaurant that cut red and yellow onions on a full sized 
commercial slicer (rotary blade).
And no ventalation or air circulation in the corner where the slicer 
was. One poor young fellow was so sensitive to the fumes (and the rotary 
blade would occasionally spit onion juice right into your face and eyes) 
that he wrapped is upper head/face in clear food wrap. Sort of had that 
nylon-stocking-burglar smooshed face look. We tried one day to draw 
specatcles around his eyes, but he wouldn't let us.
