Mmmm, fresh dates.  Let them sit until they look like they've gone dark and
transluscent, then eat them.  MMMmmmm.
I would think about a sauce with the currants, but don't have a recipe to
hand. Dekalb Farmer's Market, by chance?

I found fresh Dates and fresh white currants. I thought both of these things
were very interesting and was wondering if anyone had period recipies that
called for either or both.
