I used two sparklers.  I have made volcano cakes
before and used different sparklers for them.
With those, I got mostly sparks and a lot of 
smoke.  These sparklers had a paper wrapping,
which I wasn't sure if I should have removed
before lighting or not.  I decided to not and
I got a very serious jet flame [including that
sound that flame makes when it comes out of
a torch or valve] and very few sparks, but some
smoke at the end.  It was pretty spectacular. 
If/when I do another, I am going to have to 
decide again whether to keep them wrapped or not.
 The jet flame was spectacular, but the sparks
and smoke also are a good effect.

BTW, the secret to this is the cake form that
I use.  It is a cone shaped cake pan that has
a 1/2 inch metal tube down the middle so that the
center of the cake will bake evenly all the
way through.  I keep the tube in so that it will
protect the cake from the sparkler's flame.  It
also helps direct the sparks, smoke and flame up
and away from the cake.

Actually, the website belongs to Jared and
Selene.  He posted them for me as it was his
birthday cake and because my personal web page
isn't quite finished yet.  So the other cakes
are Jared and Selene's, not mine.

When my personal web page is finished, I hope to
post photos of several castle cakes I have made
over the years.  Once I have figured out how
to do things on the page, I will post the
URL here.
