Maybe find some with a live culture (no, darnit, I'm not talking of 
chocolate yogurt here!), make some from that, and sort of monitor its 
progress to figure out the point at which the tingliness is 
noticeable?

I'm glad, though, to see you actively encouraging the tingliness. 
Many live their lives in constant fear of it. I think this is wrong. 
The only thing we have to kefir is kefir itself.
