Hello,

Here are two family holiday recipes we use.

Kourabiedes

1 cup butter, softened
½ cup sugar
1 egg yolk
2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
½ cup finely chopped almonds or walnuts
whole cloves
confectioners sugar

Pre heat oven to 350.
Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg yolk. Sift flour
and baking soda together and add to butter -- sugar mixture, about ¼ cup at a
time. Stir in nuts.
Form dough into small balls and place 1 inch apart on a lightly greased
cookie sheet.
Press a clove into the center of each ball if desired.
Bake for 20 - 25 minutes until a light brown.
Cool on racks. Roll in confectioners sugar.

Makes about 2 dozen

Viennese Almond Crescents

¾ cup butter -- softened
4 TBS. Sugar, divided
½ tsp. Almond extract
1/8 tsp. Salt
2 cups sifted all purpose flour
½ cup finely chopped almonds
¼ tsp. Cinnamon

Cream butter with sugar until fluffy. Add almond extract, salt, nuts, and
cinnamon; stir. Add flour ½ cup at a time, blending well. Cover and chill for at
least 2 hours.

Pre heat oven to 350.
Divide dough into fourths. Take dough and roll out so it looks like a snake
about ½ thick. Cut into 3 - 4 inch pieces and shape into crescents. Place on
non-greased cookie sheets.
Bake for about 10 minutes or until golden brown.
Cool on rack.

Once cool dip half of the crescent in melted chocolate, your choice what
kind. Place on racks until chocolate hardens. Enjoy!!!

Makes about 3 dozen

Enjoy.
