I've never cared for the red stuff, whatever one calls it and
whatever shape it's in. And i really don't like black "licorice"
either, much as i have tried, for aesthetic reasons. Too bad i don't
like it because black ice cream looks so cool.

When i finally tasted REAL licorice - the little twiggy sticks from
the herbalist - while i am not fond of the flavor, i find it much
more tolerable than the anise flavored black stuff.

Additionally, for some reason, there are other colors and flavors of
"licorice shoestrings" - such as chocolate and a chartreuse green,
which flavor i don't know. I know of their existence only through a
SOCK KNITTING book i have, as someone actually knitted a pair of
socks with the pale yellow-green "shoestrings" knitting the chocolate
ones to make the toes, heels, and a pattern around the cuff...

Sheesh.

ISTR that she gave them to her children or grandchildren as a
humorous gift, and they ate them.
