Around my neck of the woods, there are a very small minority that are 
willing to accept much besides leather or booze in barter. Fortunately, 
many of my friends are willing to help me when I need to make something 
complicated.

What I find sad is that those of us who do research or cook or do other 
things find that their work isn't as valuable to the community as sewing 
or brewing.
