I guess I've been spoiled, then, living in the East.  I have two lovely 
illuminated award scrolls hanging on my wall.  One is for an Order of High 
Merit, and the other is for a lesser, non-armigerous award.  I used to have an 
AoA scroll, which got lost during a move, but that was done in A.S. XXII, and 
was just simple unadorned calligraphy.  I know very little about C&I, but even 
I can see how the art has progressed in the SCA over the years.
