True, there is even a story about when this process is shown to be
slightly imperfect (the trickster Loki convinces someone to break open a
leg-bone to get at the marrow, and the next morning the goat in question
is lame).

We thus have two pieces of food information; goats were eaten (which is
substanciated by the archaeological evidence), and that one knew to
break open bones to get at the marrow.

And the magico-religious information that imperfections in the source
materials for a reanimation of dead animals would transfer into the
resultant live animal.
