Well.. sometimes.. and it only takes once... it is because stuff 
isn't returned.  You need to be VERY specific about who is 
responsible for keeping track of everything, have a list of 
everything that was borrowed, check it off when borrowing and check 
it off again when returning.

Last summer I got back some notebooks that I had loaned maybe 12 yrs ago.
