It's amazing what the power of a cookie is. I usually bake chocolate chip cookiesor brownies for the bands I cater for (both feature Ghiradhelli chips and 100% butter — shortening is evil). One band's leader was known for his rather, uh, sharp temper. Things weren't helped that day when their tour van broke down a block away from the venue, and the band members had to roll their Marshall stacks up the street. He was tired, he was hot, he was mad —  and he smiled so warmly when I presented a giant slab of rich chocolatey brownie, studded with chocolate chips, after he got off the phone with the rental car place. And he thanked me afterward for the care the band had received.
