One of my earliest memories as a young graduate student was being awakened
in the graduate student dorm very early one Saturday morning to the sound of
bagpipes. I then heard a door open and slam and the sound of foot steps
coming down the hall and past my door. There was a pounding on the door of
a room further down the hall and loud conversation to wit, "If you don't
stop blowing those @+*# pipes you will be blowing them out the other end and
you and those @+*# pipes will be going out the window." There was an
emergency dorm meeting that very day to cover an ammendment to the dorm
rules regarding the section on the playing of musical instruments petaining
to the addition of a subsection on where and when bagpipes might be played.
