I think the main concern was that the prison is rather large and
rather modern looking, rather than any concern about the prisoners
escaping. Many folks disliked the site already because it was rather
mundane in many sections.

It did have a really big, enclosed horse arena though. One fall event
when an early cold front blew through and temperatures dropped into
the forties, most of the event was moved from outside into the arena.
The big problem was really the strong, cold, north wind, as well as
the damp conditions. So the barn helped for that. The folks that had
problems with hay though weren't happy, even though we had covered
the entire area with plastic to keep down the dust. The tournament
was still held outside, though. Many camped out there on Friday
night. I don't think many did for Saturday night. We almost left
early Saturday morning. My lady wife usually gets up early, around 5
am to take a shower (no shower = no event attendance). Well, the next
thing I know she is back at the pavilion saying "Start packing. We're
going home!". Apparently the strong north wind kept blowing out the
pilot lights on the water heaters, so no hot water in the showers.
Brrrr. I did manage to calm her down and we stayed until after feast
that night.
