I STR hearing that turkey hens were served at the wedding (or was it
Coronation?) feast of one of the Kings Henry of England, either the
Sixth or Seventh, but that these were in fact what we'd now call
Guinea Fowl (which come originally from Africa, I believe).
But yes, as others have suggested, what we're probably seeing here
are people whose information on medieval life comes from Renn faires.
