Well, I'm not Maire, but I did a blackwork and cross stitch embroidery cake
for a SCAdian needleworker's wedding anniversary.  I copied an Elizabethan
blackwork design for the border and found a cross stitch pattern for an owl
(of significance for her) for the center.  It's at
