Chicken friend steadk must be a Texas-midWest thing.  I grew up on southern fried steak (with grits on the side, of course).

Oh? I had begun to think chicken fried steak was a Texas food item. It 
is pretty common here and I'd gotten the feeling that it was less 
common elsewhere.
