hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... my first personal experience with one 
was when a student's hubby suggested warming some 
pre-baked homemade biscuits (for biscuits and sausage 
gravy on a food plan) in the oven. i was busy w/ the 
gravy, and he was less than attentive.  about 25 percent 
of them got cajun-blackened-scorched.  and he was supposed 
to be experienced with the oven.

had a friend make green bean casserole (mushie soup and 
onion rings) for her (albeit non period) food plan meal 
and all i could see was mondo mess waiting to be 
scrubbed).  but then, she's a ditz. 8(

watch em like a hawk, i think.  wonderful things, but....
