Meat pies, from the Viandier (14 c. French)
The recipe is:

"Take  cooked meat chopped very small, pine nut paste, currants, harvest 
cheese crumbled very small, a bit of sugar and a little salt."
(translation by James Prescott)

I used boiled beef and domestic (cow's milk) feta cheese.  This was the 
first time I'd made muffin-sized pies, and the crust was too thick.  I'm 
thinking I'll try pork next time, and maybe increase the cheese.
