        We seem to be moving into the mainstream. Only this week I found the 
following items:
     in Norm Thompson: long peppers, turducken
     in Bean and Belug...um, Dean and Deluca: Verjucie (only $24 for two 12 
oz bottles) and Baumkuchen (as they describe it: Concentric rings of apricot 
jam, marzipan and sponge cake are baked before an open fire. Topped with vanilla 
glaze, enjoy any time of day. Germany's adored tree cake still pleases crowds 
three centuries after the German king hailed it the 'Cake of Kings and the 
King of Cakes' - $45 for 1lb 8 oz... Oh, and also 'marasca cherries two ways' - 
is this the origin of the maraschino cherry, perhaps?
