Kiri, depending on the size and persistance of the doggie, I might be
able to help with that :) We had a large and pretty persistant German
Shorthair. We thwarted him by buying a trash can with a rounded top (so
he couldn't jump up and pull it over, his paws would slide off), backed
it into a corner (so he couldn't just knock it over), and turned the
opening toward the wall (so he couldn't nose it open). It worked
remarkably well.

Alas, the same technique doesn't work for a persistant 15 month old.
She just pulls the can right out. All the toys that survived her older
sister without a single piece going missing? I can't find dozens of
pieces now. I think she's thrown them all away...

Not to mention all the things I find her chewing on...

'Normal' is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work, driving through traffic in a car you are still paying for, in order to get to the job that you need so you can pay for the clothes, car, and the house that you leave empty all day in order to afford to live in it. -Ellen Goodman

[T]o admit authorities, however heavily furred and gowned, into our libraries and let them tell us how to read, what to read, what value to place upon what we read, is to destroy the spirit of freedom which is the breath of those sanctuaries. -Virginia Woolf
