[Sca-cooks] Salt Spoons, Anyone?

Yep, that's where we are in our house tonight, researching salt spoons.  It all started when I found a really good buy on French Gray Sea Salt..........never mind, you had to be there.

Now, however, I am on a search for some history connected to salt spoons.  I own dozens of the blighters, but don't have any idea how far back in history they go.  Any ideas where I might look?  

Oh, and in case anyone is really curious, everyone I know is getting fancy salt in a cute jar with a hand cast pewter salt spoon for Christmas.
