There was a study that showed a clear correlation between aluminum  
and Alzheimer's disease.  They found large quantities of aluminum in  
100% of the brain tissue samples studied from deceased Alzheimer's  
patients.  However when they went back to validate the study they  
realized that they'd used an aluminum-based stain to prepare the  
samples, and when they repeated the study using a different (non- 
aluminum) stain it turned out to be 0%.  Serious "D'oh!"
