soon after moving to new mexico from maryland, my first 
experience of the actual aroma of roasting of chilies was 
at the swapmeet at the fairgrounds.  huge, huge, lotsa 
people.

the smell seemed everywhere, faint here and strong there. 
i wondered who was brazen enough to be smoking a doobie 
right out in the open. ;)

i have since been able to recognize the smell of roasting 
chilies as opposed tgo other things...
