Here is a modern Persian drink that I have made that is quite yummy:

Adrak Sharbat (Lime Ginger Ale)

1 oz ginger root, peeled
12 limes, juice of
1 tsp Peppercorns
2 pints Water
18 oz Sugar
1 liter sparkling water

makes 2 qt or 2 L

Make a paste of the ginger. Add this paste and the peppercorns to 1 pint of
water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, simmer 5 min. Strain. Set liquid aside
and put solids back in the pan with more water. Bring to a boil, reduce
heat, simmer 5 min. Strain. Discard solids. Combine both liquids together
with sugar and lime juice. Chill.

To serve, dilute with an equal quantity of sparkling water and serve over ice.

Very refreshing on a hot day.

Remember that while money talks, chocolate sings.
