I'm a big fan of frescati and pinot grigio and other cheap italian
whites :). I also had a wonderful argentinian unoaked chardonnay once
(vintage Funky Llama. I kid you not. For about $6 a bottle. Woot!) that
was dry and crisp and fruit and all the things I love but no oak, no
tannin, and none of that "buttery" mouth feel that Americans seem to
like so much. When I was in Burgundy a few years back I was in
heaven...so many wonderful white wines, without the oak tannins I
dislike so much. And for less than bottled water. Woot again!

It seems a banana split would be sweet, sure, but you'd also get that
creamy mouth feel, a bit of bitter from the chocolate, the tang of the
cherry on top and the musky banana. Seems it would go well with a fairly
simple, clean white wine? (ie nothing too complex. Just something to
help cleanse your palate from the icecream so you can start the next
bite anew :))

So I'd go for a frascati, I think.

But then I think frescati goes with pretty much anything ;)
