This is a bit off-topic but since some of you have been quite  
supportive of my busted arm as well as my jobless situation, I  
thought I'd mention this here.

A week ago, just as my unemployment insurance was running out and  
about four days after I last interviewed there, I got a call from the  
recruiter at Dell Inc, offering me an Electrical Engineering job in  
their board design group, at a higher salary than I had been  
expecting, a sign-on bonus (I thought those were dead) and other  
goodies.  I just got an email this afternoon that I have passed the  
drug screen and the background check. Right now my start date is  
January 8. I will also get three weeks of vacation, so I should be  
able to make Gulf Wars and at least part of Pennsic.

Dell is about six miles from me, mostly up the new toll road, so  
those that know my eyesight problems will know this is much better  
for me than a job on the other side of town and requiring going  
through downtown traffic.

I also interviewed this morning with a small startup company only  
about a mile and a half from my home. They seem quite interested in  
me, and I would get more power to do things "my way" but they are  
also much riskier and might or might not exist a year from now.

My arm has been aching today, but that should get better as time passes.

So, things are looking up this holiday season. Thanks again for  
everyone's support.
