Susan:

What Kiri forgot to mention was that when Drachenwald was first started, it was in Germany, so it seemed logical to them to give it a German name. England/United Kingdom is what is called a Crown Principality in Drachenwald... http://www.drachenwald.sca.org/Regnum/#The%20United%20Kingdom,%20Ireland%20and%20Iceland called Insulae Draconis. Within that Principality, there are at least 8 local groups. Scroll on down from the page I listed and you will see where they are within the UK. Other "far away places" in Drachenwald include Sicily, Romania, Kuwait, Iraq (US Forces, I would imagine), Switzerland, and Afghanistan. Since you do preside within the boundaries of Insulae Draconis for at least half the year, you would be considered one of their populace, should you ever decide to delve into the SCA <grin>. As Kiri mentioned, I do think St. Nick will find you no matter where you are, as he is a magical being <big grin>. And, he is going to have problems finding purchase
for his sleigh this year in the US midwest... as there isn't any snow in much of it <sigh>.

Wow, it must be really neat to be a part of even a minor nobility in real life!! Something most of us here in the US can only dream about <grin>. We have many levels of SCA "nobility" that mostly mirror British forms in some way. However, we have to "earn" our nobility in the SCA, nothing is handed down as a birthright.

Pennsic is a two week camping gathering of about 12,000 SCA members in Pennsylvania each summer. Kind of like a big convension. Just try to imagine everyone in Medieval type tents, wearing Medieval clothing (all types and countries), taking lots and lots of classes, and several really cool battles on the battlefield. All in all, it is a pretty cool time... except for the weather, which is usually very hot and humid <sigh>... or stormy.
