On the other hand, there is snowfall predicted for Christmas day for 
mountain towns in my state.
Which wouldn't be noteworthy...except that I'm in AUSTRALIA. It's MIDSUMMER.

And the mountain towns in question are just making headway against 
bushfires that have burnt out over two million acres so far, fanned by 
record dryness and early heat...

strange, strange, strange weather.
