A member of our cook's guild just did Trayne Roste as a dessert  soteltie.  
It is dried fruits (figs, dates, etc) and almonds strung on  string, coated 
with a batter and deep fried.  It looked very much like  "entrails" and was 
delicious!  The Amish are familiar with dried fruits and  they eat the "real thing" 
, so it would really be a surprise to some!  (and  the fruits could be 
"strung" ahead of time)
